PAN is an experimental band with five musicians from all over the world. We pursue soundscape/ambient music, which has folk influences of cyclical structure, polyphony, and the emphasis of timbre and texture, with the use of unconventional composing methods and various sound effects, noises, always with improvisation as its core. The band was formed in Gothenburg 2019 winter and released a debut album I Had a Dream 2020 summer.

Our member line-up is: Jung-Jae Kim – Saxophone Vít Beneš – Electric Guitar, Electronics Joel Haag – Acoustic Guitar Shafeeq Alsadi – Qanun (Arabic traditional instrument) Farshad Saremi – Kamancheh (Iranian traditional instrument)

I Had a Dream is PAN’s debut album. The main idea of this album is to produce music with a compound of conventional and alternative sounds by using unsystematic and unmathematical characteristics of natural features. The music is focusing on conveying images, atmosphere, and storytelling that has an audio-movie concept, as the listeners meet musical imaginary experiences. The whole album is talking about dream, which is a reflection of one’s thought or wish. All the tracks form one major theme of the whole album like an omnibus while each piece includes its own subject that has a double-sided meaning. The journey starts with the first track Air (Dream) and follows the tracks as chapters of a story. It ends with the last track Bricks (Battery) when the battery is dead.

FVM improviserar fritt och utan skyddsnät kring välkända svenska psalmer och folkvisor. Alla gubbsen använder också sina röster.
